Full Time Job
The purpose of this position is to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiate the procurement of goods and/or services across Discovery’s Global organization. The CPO will also help build Discovery’s global sourcing organization by expanding the scope of the Procurement function across all categories of spend. This position will involve defining and implementing the sourcing strategies to drive efficiencies in spend across IT/Technology, Broadcasting Ops, Marketing, Research and Corporate Services. The CPO reports directly to an Executive Vice President in the Discovery Finance organization.
Responsibilities
1. Define overall sourcing strategy, identify strategic opportunities for potential savings, and make recommendations for change requirements, where necessary
2. Establish key business partnerships with internal stakeholders and cross functional Discovery leadership to collaborate and drive sourcing strategies
3. Maintain a strong external focus to inform negotiations and Procurement strategy by leveraging industry peers and organizations
4. Lead strategic sourcing managers in supplier selection and in negotiating complex contractual terms and conditions in partnership with business owners and other key stakeholders
5. Grow Discovery’s Procurement organization by building -out the strategic sourcing function in the U.S. and driving the implementation of Procurement policies
6. Oversee the Vendor Management function and the data analytics Center of Excellence
7. Coordinate closely with purchase-to-pay function, which is handled separately in our shared services function
Requirements
* 15 years of experience in strategic sourcing/procurement in a large complex organization, preferably with media focus
* 10 years leading a team, including development of category plans and/or sourcing strategies
* Understanding of the supplier landscape across major categories of spend, industry and/or professional relationships with vendors in these categories a plus
* Demonstrated contract and agreement negotiation experience, including development of negotiating strategies
* Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize complex and technical information into concise and clear recommendations
* Willingness to bring thought leadership, a creative mindset, and a fresh perspective on new ways to approach existing problems
* Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other graduate degree preferred
* Professional accreditation in sourcing /procurement a plus
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
