This is an opportunity to take a brand that already has an established fan base to the next level. Some higher end limited pieces will be created but the lions share of the clothing is $30 - $150 modern streetwear for both men and women.
The candidate will have professional experience designing clothing and understand the industry from drawing to retail. You will have the ability to grow the brand, make your own educated decisions and be creative. You will be expected to study trends and create designs that will appeal to consumers. You will work with the owners on the look and feel of the brand. Some designs will be very simple wholesale screen printed items like T-Shirts that get embellished and some items will be much more involved cut and sew.
You will be working with a team to help produce the retail garments so good communication skills and a good attitude are a must. Please be highly detail oriented and have a great eye for the little things like color, trims, and quality. Your success will only be limited by your ability to work hard and go for it.
At this job you will:
Research current fashion and retail fashion to predict trends
Decide on themes for collections (Fall/Winter & Spring/Summer)
Produce computer designs and or high end drawings
Work with graphic designers and team members to create new ideas
Select fabrics, embellishments, colors, or style for each garment or accessory
Present design ideas to the creative director (but think of yourself as co-creative director)
Be able to work with models to see how the design will look and adjust the designs as needed.
Produce prototypes based off of approved drawings or computer renderings
Produce samples with finished materials based off of approved prototypes
Have knowledge of where to source fabrics and get clothing produced
Not be afraid to do things like print on a pre-made blank garments and add some custom trims if that is all that time or money allows
Visit manufacturers or trade shows to get fabric samples
Oversee the final production of the designs
Work with production manager to get everything completed on time and produced for retail.
Working with marketing to make sure we are creating a lookbook & product photographing and creating other assets for marketing use
Also managing the Dirtybird Clothing team and the entire store process, from beginning to end.
Costume design for DJs Barclay Crenshaw and Claude VonStroke
Sales:
Make sure we're hitting sales targets
Managing a crew of 2 for the online store and pop ups including:
Managing the process of the online store, warehouse & employees
Managing customer service issues
Management of pop up strategy
Hiring staff for pop ups
Managing budgets for pop ups & production
Bonus Skills:
Graphic design skills
adobe creative suite
Online marketing
Requirements:
2+ years as a fashion designer working in streetwear for men & women
Hold relationships with manufacturers in Los Angeles
