Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Employee Relations Manager to deliver the Employee Relations agenda across all UK business areas, ensuring the fair, equitable, objective and consistent treatment of all employees. This is a permanent opportunity based in the Disney EMEA head office in Hammersmith, London.
The role will develop a plan, policies and practices to ensure positive employee relations and anticipate proactively potential issues in order to institute preventative measures. As part of this strategy the role is responsible for the employee wellbeing agenda (in partnership with HR colleagues) by providing expert advice and support on employee communications and practices that support a positive and engaging work place for all.
The role provides direction, for both HR and business leaders, on the legal management of ER cases and interpretation of all HR policies for the UK on a day to day basis. This role is responsible for the monitoring of UK legislation and the implementation and update of all employee policies relevant to UK law or requiring local implementation of a global policy.
Responsibilities:
Strategy and Policy
• Develop a proactive employee relations strategy that incorporates employee wellbeing
• Champions Equal Opportunities and Diversity across both policies and day to day implementation of practices
• Responsible for the development of HR Policies in line with our people strategies and UK Government legislation ensuring they are user friendly and fit for purpose for our business
• Lead a positive approach to performance management within the organization
• Leads training sessions for line managers to ensure they are equipped to deploy both HR policies and ACAS best practice in the management of their teams
• Provides overall direction for COE groups on wellbeing strategy to ensure practices implemented support the cultural vision for a positive work place
• Develops strong relationships with business clients (in conjunction with HR Business Partners) to ensure good understanding of business agendas and cultures
• Coaches line managers in dealing with any disciplinary or grievance issues as required
• Works with HRBP team to implement any organisational change programmes
Management of ER Agenda
• Proactive management of long-term absence situations and manages the Occupational Health response as required
• Provides advice and support to business leaders on ER issues
• Works closely with corporate legal and external legal counsel on case preparation for any employment litigation
• Provides support and guidance to HR Business Partners on all ER issues on a day to day basis ensuring they are compliant with both UK law and company best practice, also ensuring we have a consistent approach to ER in all areas
• Coaches and leads line managers with flexible working policy and negotiates flex working arrangements in conjunction with them, ensuring consistency and fairness in how the policy is operated within all business areas
• Case manages complex ER issues personally to ensure legal compliance and consistency in approach with high level disciplinary sanctions or termination of employment
• Responsible for the day to day delivery, through the HR Projects Manager, of the employee wellbeing agenda
• Attends regular external Employment Law events to ensure advice is up to date with both current legislation and case law
• Maintains smooth flow of communication throughout the employee relations processes, including business stakeholders, employees, corporate legal advisors
Skills
& Experience
• Experience of multi-national, fast-paced, progressive commercial organisations
• CIPD Qualified or equivalent work experience
• Sound experiences across other HR disciplines
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment
• ER management experience demonstrated with proven experience developing and managing ER plans including organisational changes, performance management and discipline/grievance management being key
• Excellent up to date Employment Law knowledge
