Community Affairs Assistant (Seasonal)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Correspondences (Fan letters and Fan Packs)-Assistants are responsible for all written correspondences in response to general fan mail and specific fan requests including, but not limited to birthday recognition, anniversary recognition, letters of encouragement, letters of bereavement, etc.
2. Logs and Lists- Assistants are responsible for maintaining and updating various event lists and information logs for the department. These reports include the correspondence log, which provides information about response letters and other correspondences from the Community Affairs department. Assistants are responsible to track all correspondences with fans.
3. Memorabilia Donations/Fan Pack Donations- The Community Affairs department oversees memorabilia donations made by the organization. From coloring books and stickers to autographed photo cards and baseballs, each donation is recorded and tracked for value. Assistant aid with all facets of memorabilia donations such as reviewing requests and packaging items.
4. Maintain photo archive for Community Affairs/Detroit Tigers Foundation- The Community Affairs assistant collects photos of all community and Foundation events. The Community Affairs assistant maintains an organized archive of photos and creates weekly videoboards of community events and programs to be displayed outside the Tigers Clubhouse.
5. Website and Game Program Reports- Assistants aid staff members to create and draft program summaries for both the team website and game programs. All summaries will be a review of Community and Public Affairs events along with photos of the event.
6. Season Program Planning/Special Events- Each season the Community Affairs department schedules community events, activities, and promotions throughout the season. Special events include youth and sports programs, equipment collections, player appearances, Tigers Wives appearances and programs and many more. The Community Affairs assistant assists in coordinating and activating these events.
7. Community Brochure- Assistants will assist with coordinating the distribution and mailing the Community Brochure to community partners and other appropriate parties.
8. New Projects and Various other projects- Additional department projects include, but are not limited to, assistance with maintaining and updating databases (schools, nonprofit organizations, etc.) and general office work (send faxes, mass mailings, etc.). Finally, department assistants may be asked, on occasion, to assist Tigers Foundation and Public Affairs staff with varying office and/or game-related responsibilities.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. The ideal candidate must be at least a college senior or recent graduate
2. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service skills
4. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills
5. The ideal candidate must be able to successfully multi-task
6. The ideal candidate must be available full-time
7. The ideal candidate must be willing to work longs hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
