ENGINEER
Overall Responsibility
Working as an integral member of the Creative Engineering team supporting our features, television and dailies businesses in house and on location. To be responsible for the maintenance and up keep of all production IT equipment and infrastructure to achieve maximum production levels. To also provide first line technical support to all Operators in technical areas.
Responsibilities:
To respond and prioritise requests from operational staff and clients.
To communicate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deadlines.
To advise and improve post production work flows.
Support of all technical operations.
Maintenance and repair of all production IT equipment.
Installation of new production equipment.
Responsible for building, maintaining and configuration of servers and workstations.
Support of network hardware/configuration, storage, backup systems etc.
Daily data management tasks and monitoring of internal IT systems.
Maintain Technical Records of systems, software and Infrastructure.
Responsible for equipment movements and subsequent testing.
To liaise with third party suppliers and keep up to date on new products.
Maintaining best practices for content security and client confidentiality.
Requirements/Background:
Formal qualification in Computer Science or Engineering.
Previous experience of working in a Broadcast engineering environment is essential.
Knowledge of current IT standards and procedures.
To have a good knowledge of post production IT equipment and suppliers.
Previous experience of supporting SAN and NAS storage and servers.
An understanding of network file sharing protocols i.e SMB, NFS, FTP.
IT experience to include a comprehensive understanding of Linux (centOS), Windows & MAC OS. Active Directory skills important.
Metworking – VLANs/Static Routes/Understanding of Firewallsand switches
Experience in supporting and maintaining Avid Media Composer, AutoDesk Flame, Blackmagic Resolve and Avid Protools is essential.
VMWare knowledge
Monitor calibration
Previous experience of day to day media management on file servers and tape libraries as well as proactive health checks and drive replacements.
Be able to maintain the company's digital security to MPAA specification.
Identify changing requirements, recommend and develop solutions.
Health & Safety awareness and training an advantage.

Production Systems Experience: Autodesk Flame Suite, Davinci Resolve, Colourfront, Baselight, Clipster, Scanity, Arriscan, Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Nuke
Business Systems Experience: Microsoft Office – Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word Proficient with web applications and portals for job management.
