Dark Matter Media is looking for a highly motivated intern based in either New York City or Los Angeles to fill a publicity intern position. The ideal candidate will have previous experience or familiarity with the music/PR industry, familiarity with the music and media landscape, possess strong administrative, organizational, and writing skills, possess above-average attention to detail, and preferably an awareness of the culture and history of Hip Hop.
Dark Matter Media is a boutique Public Relations firm operating in New York and Los Angeles with past and previous clients including Chief Keef, Yung Bleu, Rubi Rose, Kenny Mason, Nardo Wick, Drakeo the Ruler, and more.
Job Type: Internship
Start Date: August 1st - 31st
End Date: December 1st - 31st
Weekly time commitment: 15 hrs a week
Work Location: New York City / Los Angeles (100% Remote)
Education: High school or equivalent (Required) / College (Preferred)
Job Responsibilities / Duties:
- Tracking outreach, coverage and feedback, and compiling press reports
- Media monitoring
- Database management
- General website updates
- Proofreading press releases
- Growth opportunities

Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of the media landscape as well as hip-hop culture and history
- Ability to stay organized, efficient, and effective while working on multiple projects at once
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining sharp attention to detail
- Proficiency with GSuite including GMail, Google Docs, and Google Spreadsheets
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and intuitively
- Ability to adjust to changing schedules and needs
- Maintain a professional and personable demeanor when interacting with clients and media
