SUMMARY:
The Temporary Writer Payments Coordinator assists the SVP of Production Finance and the Production Accountant/ Analyst, the Production Accounting Analyst, the business affairs department and the Production department with inputting, reviewing and making writer payments. The duties will also consist of maintaining other schedules relating to Film production budgets, cost reports and cash flows and other reports provided by the Production Accountants as well as assist in responding to other ad-hock reporting requests as required. The Temporary Writer Payments Coordinator assists in providing day-to-day accounting and financial analysis support for the Company's Production, Accounting and Legal Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work with the SVP Production Finance and the Production Accountant and Business Affairs to review, approve, track writer payments using analytical, accounting and union other production experience.
2. Reconcile payments made by Crown Media finance to 3rd party payroll agency.
3. Interact with business affairs to validate writer payments to be made and agreement to contract.
4. Assist in tracking writers' spend across various own produced TV Movies/ Series and reconcile to the payments made.
5. Organize payments to the writers in conjunction with 3rd party payroll agency.
6. Interact with the Production Department to obtain information about writer work performed or upcoming work to be performed.
7. Forward relevant information the Crown Media finance department to ensure payments are made to the 3rd party payroll agency.
8. Maintain organized accounting record keeping.
9. Assist in preparing ad hoc reports and analyses when needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2 years' work experience in a corporate environment
• Experience reconciling various payments, accounts statements and schedules.
• Microsoft Office Suite experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business/Econ.
• Minimum 2 years' production accounting, film/TV finance experience (TV or Film and/or accounting in the film industry) or accounting experience desired.
• Attention to detail, desire for accuracy, and a sense of urgency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced intermediate Excel skills and all other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Strong willingness to learn and be a great team player.
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to find solutions and setting up check points for verification of accuracy of work performed.
• Knowledge of applicable guild rules in connection with both domestic and international residuals with respect to made for Basic Cable television movies. SAG-AFTRA, WGA, WGC, DGA, DGC, UPCP/ACTRA desired.
