Position Summary:
Critical Content is seeking a Manager of Production for its growing production department. Successful candidate will be responsible for managing all financial cost and transactions involved in the making of company television shows, handling all payroll and corrective issues with show employees, and ensuring that adequate staffing is available as needs of the production require, and aid in the day-to-day production workflow. Candidates will possess initiative and drive, have relevant television production knowledge with good management expertise and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position reports to the SVP of Production. Dotted line to CFO.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Main focus is to create budgets in an efficient and competent manner to support management team (Production Management, CEO, Head of Legal & Business Affairs) in selling new shows. Secondarily, maintain basic reporting and financial controls over productions.
•Create system to allocate internal and external resources to maximize margins of shows.
•Review and sign-off on internal and external resources that are on-boarded for shows.
•Will also be required to deal with other numerical aspects such as show insurance matters.
•Will dedicate 20% of time to update and maintain financial forecast of production portfolio, reconcile cost reports, update margin analysis.
•Will require experience with production techniques and show budgets (incl. systems such as Movie Magic). Line producer experience highly useful but will also require financial reporting competence.
•Collect and manage Production documents from all active development and series projects
•Review and update cost reports and project trackers on a weekly basis
•Set up and assist in risk assessment and risk management procedures for each project.
•Ensure Network Deliverable and Post requirements communicated to appropriate internal departments
•Establish and nurture vendor and staff /crew relations.
•Work closely with creative and post-production and other internal dept heads to facilitate delivery of product.
Qualifications:
•5-7 years work related experience within a high paced agency, network and /or freelance field environment. Line Producer credits preferred.
•Bachelor's degree required.
•Background and budgeting experience in a wide range of genres to include doc follow, recreations, Multicam, live events, game shows, adventure & travel.
•Have up to date working knowledge of both Union and Non-Union crew rules and regulations.
•Deep understanding and knowledge of the technical process involved in television production including camera, lighting, sound, and editing.
•Knowledge to ensure that all necessary licenses and clearance have been obtained for a production.
•Understanding of regulation compliance relating to liability and indemnity when filming at different locations
•Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA.
•Must be willing to travel, work overtime on short notice, weekends, and holidays.
•Must have a proven meticulous attention to detail in daily work habits.
•Excellent communication skills
