CoSA VFX is looking for LA-based RENDER WRANGLERS to perform duties including digital asset management, render queue monitoring, render farm technical QC, and archiving projects. Candidates must be based in Los Angeles, and available for in-person interview at our office in North Hollywood for consideration. Under the supervision of the IT Manager and Creative Supervisors, the render wrangler is responsible for monitoring and optimizing the rendering processes on the render farm, to ensure established priorities are met, and deliverables are meeting production deadlines. They will be responsible of the render farm's functionality and efficiency, as well as managing the company's digital assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure render jobs are properly prioritized in the queue system so that project goals are met while monitoring the render farm's health and status on a regular basis
- Monitor rendering quality and quantity, as well as making the required corrections when needed
- Communicate with the IT Manager and Creative Supervisors on outstanding hardware and software issues, as well as overall render farm performance and efficiency across the facility;
- Monitor disk server status. Perform backups, archiving and restores
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
- Thorough understanding of TV/Film production processes, and VFX production pipeline
- Excellent multi-tasking skills, plus the ability to track and reconcile multiple priorities
- Knowledge of a render farm manager, such as Deadline
- Knowledgeable in LINUX / UNIX, Windows, and Mac environments
- Experience with VFX software such as NUKE, MAYA, Adobe After Effects, and 3D/2D software plug-ins
- Experience with scripting (mostly Python) a plus
- Production Skills with CG lighting a plus
- Knowledge of a production management system or digital asset management system, such as F-TRACK a plus
