Position Summary:
This position is responsible for corporate sponsorship strategy and revenue generation for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun and the NLL's New England Black Wolves, the two sports teams owned and operated by the Mohegan Sun.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
• Develops, presents and negotiates proposals on a local, regional and national level
• Works with staff to ensure management of all communication regarding partnerships to all property departments and acts as a liaison with other areas to maximize potential opportunities
• Researches, identifies and prioritizes prospective partners
• Versed on best practices in the WNBA, NLL and sports, providing innovative ideas for partners to extend their brands
• Works with staff to generate revenue reports summarizing delivered benefits
• Creates added value to sponsorship partners
• Manages staff assisting with their needs
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Creates packages that fit potential sponsor's goals, objectives and financial abilities
• Assists sponsors with tracking ROI
• Helps pull together other outside resources to create best partnerships available
• Oversees all renewals
• Conducts annual meetings with all team partners to evaluate partnership, review objectives and update strategies
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelors' Degree in Marketing or a related field with continued training in Sponsorship Sales and Marketing
• Minimum of four years of experience in a sales position focusing on execution of sponsorship benefits and deal points
• Must demonstrate a proven track record of consistent success in sales performance and knowledge of sports marketing
• Experience with cold-calling and taking a project from inception to completion
• In lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, eight (8) years of sales, marketing or business development experience
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
• Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills and strong customer service ethic
• Strong verbal presentation skills
• Knowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and procedures
• Knowledge of Mohegan Sun's budget planning and analysis process
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point and Lotus Notes
• Thorough understanding of the Mohegan Sun Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment
Training Requirements:
• Knowledge of Mohegan Sun policies and procedures
• Must complete all appropriate Human Resources Manager Training courses
• Mohegan Sun CER and purchasing procedures
• Understanding of Mohegan Sun time and attendance systems
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Office work environment
• Must be able to travel overnight and have dependable transportation
• Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
