Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing and training the sales and service staff as well as the oversight of box office, CRM, and e-marketing efforts for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Responsible for driving overall ticket sales and revenue (plans, groups, and single game), servicing and retaining customers, data acquisition, and lead management. In addition, this position will utilize creative ways to drive ancillary revenue via concessions and merchandise through bundled products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
• Responsible for creating year-round, best-in-class sales and service strategies for ticket plans and groups
• Develops and executes pricing strategy using applicable data sources
• Provides one-on-one and group training for Account Executives to ensure revenue goals are attained
• Creates and manages lead campaigns for Account Executives working with marketing to support call campaigns with emails and other awareness measures
• Oversees the development of manifests and management of inventory for each game (season tickets, special offers, etc.)
• Builds plan for annual single game ticket on-sale for various products as well as renewals and works with marketing/ad agency to rollout timely campaigns
• Initiates reports related to ticket sales for finance and WNBA reporting and to inform team management on progress
• Identifies tools and technology to make Account Executives more efficient and effective, while also making it a better experience for the buyer
• Prepares and maintains annual budget related to ticket sales and service
• Works with marketing, game operations and social/digital media to ensure ticket messaging is presented in a timely and accurate manner
• Oversees the hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and discipline of the sales staff and Business Intelligence Coordinator
• Researches best practices in the WNBA, as well as other sports leagues, to continually strive to improve processes, training and results
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works with the Box Office on tracking and ticket programs
• Acts as a liaison to season subscribers and manages any issues or concerns
• Works as a liaison with Ticketmaster
• Develops and maintains strategic working relationships with corporate sponsors and partners
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelors' Degree in Sports Management, Business or a related field
• Four years of sales experience including two years of sales experience with a professional sports team as a top producer
• Must have experience in all aspects of team ticket sales, including the development of sales and marketing plans
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
• In lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, seven years of sales experience with a professional sports team may be considered
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
• Knowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and procedures
• Understanding of best practices in sales and service training
• Knowledge of the Ticketmaster system and Archtics
• Knowledge of CRM systems
• Effective utilization of Mohegan Sun Evaluation programs
• Thorough understanding of the Mohegan Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment
Training Requirements:
• Excellent knowledge of Ascent, EmpowerTime and Manager Self Service systems
• Knowledge of Mohegan Sun budget planning and analysis process and procedures
• Mohegan Sun CER and purchasing procedures
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Office work environment
• Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen and talk on the phone for extended periods of time
• Overnight travel may be required
• Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
