VP of Development
Los Angeles based, film and television production company seeking an energetic, self-starter to strategically flesh out new and internal concepts and create materials to pitch up internally; including writing treatments beating out formats. The VP of Development will also work as part of the executive team to transition projects into production. Candidate must be able to think outside of the box while at the same time conscious of the creative mandates of networks and studios.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Oversee all development projects from creation through pitch to green-light.
-Manage multiple projects through the development process, overseeing pre-production, production and post production of sizzle and/or teaser tapes
-Write and oversee the writing of development documents such as treatments, one sheets, formats, proof of concept documents etc.
-Create programming concepts, take pitches from outside producers, work with agents and package projects.
-Oversee outreach and casting for on screen talent.
-Thoroughly monitor and understand creative trends, social media and new technologies to find ways to create new revenue opportunities.
Required experience:
-Background in film, TV, and or writing.
-Must be LA based.
-Successful track record developing and selling programming that has sustained ratings and commercial success within a production company or cable network.
-In depth knowledge of Television programming and experience in a similar, level development role.
-Strong, credible relationships with networks and other peers within the unscripted television community including agents, talent, writers and production companies.
-Familiarity with customary business practices in unscripted television.
-Experience finding cast for unscripted programs and formats.
