The Opportunity
An independent production company is seeking an experienced leader for VP, Comedy Production. Our company produces and develops hundreds of hours of scripted and unscripted content each year for a multitude of platforms, including network and basic cable broadcasters, SVOD and OTT, Pay Television, and PPV.
Role
• Work closely with EVP of Production and Post Production team to ensure the vision of development is being realized through quality
production
• Supervise all aspects of scripted and non-scripted development and pitches to ensure creative vision is professionally delivered
• Convert creative concepts to profitable production models
• Oversee development pipeline across all emerging platforms
• Manage internal and external relationships during both the development and production phases of show creation
• Oversee pitch material and liaise with partners on production and development notes
• Coordinate with production teams, review episodic materials, and give notes throughout all phases of development
• Review performance of programming in market and identify best content practices on a proactive basis
• Develop relevant strategies and tactics that will result in creative revenue generation, lowered cost, increased efficiency, and
improved operating margin
• Provide daily supervision for Development staff and strong collaboration with internal stakeholders, to include Production and Live
Division
Minimum Qualifications
• Energetic personality that compels others into action; uses influence and relationships to accelerate performance
• Polished, professional, friendly; can multitask and take initiative in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
• Minimum of 10 years in Development, preferably not less than 4 years at an executive level/Executive Producer
• Demonstrates success in planning and overseeing projects, working with outside vendors, and maintains an extensive network of
contacts
• Strong understanding of the television production process
• Effective communication and collaboration within a matrix environment, uses influence to help drive shared success
• Proven track record of innovation and creativity leading to extraordinary performance results
