The Position
The Production Coordinator will organize the business, finance and operation activities of a documentary short film production unit. -
The Production Coordinator will ensure that productions and other program activities run smoothly, meet deadlines, and stay within budgets. Production Coordinator must be able to originate production budgets using Movie Magic budgeting software, and track actuals. Knowledge of film production and post production needed. Interest in documentary film preferred. This position may require interface with artists and creative professionals but is not a public facing or in-field position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create and manage production budgets for short documentary films
Manage an annual program operational budget and reconcile all cost reports
Organize and maintain annual program calendar and benchmarks
Coordinate residential artist workshops (scheduling, invites, catering, travel/lodging, etc.)
Support production logistics (reserve gear, book travel, etc.) as needed
Manage and serve as a resource for a team of screeners
Support and maintain a current candidate tracking system
Ensure productions comply with necessary filing, reporting, and legal requirements
Provide administrative support for production executive (calendar, travel, etc.)
Draft written reports as requested
Conduct research and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Superior organizational skills
Production budgeting skills
Knowledge of Movie Magic Budgeting software preferred
Basic accounting skills
Production and post production knowledge
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good judgment and problem solving skills
Diplomacy and discretion
Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Interest in documentary film preferred
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously
Previous work experience as Production Coordinator strongly preferred
Full or Part time position on a contractual basis. Term is six months, with extension possible based on production needs, at company discretion. Pay is commensurate with existing skills and prior experience.
