We are looking for a People Operations Manager to assist the VP of Business Operations in building and preserving a world-class culture throughout a time of active growth. This person should have a passion for working with people and have a strong ability to build relationships and trust. They should have a wide understanding of people management and human resources initiatives such as managing employee relations processes, organizing wellness programs, development training, assisting with recruitment, administration of employee benefits, payroll, and more. The People Operations Manager will support the tv production cast, crew, and staff as well as corporate employees, so prior experience in the film and television industry and an understanding of the on-set production environment will contribute to success in this role.
As the first true People Ops/HR position at our production company, the role encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities, so we'll need an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives when creating new programs, processes, and initiatives. You will be responsible for recruiting and hiring, handling employee reviews and tracking KPIs, creating and executing incentive programs that reward high-performing employees, managing employee issues or concerns, handling team conflict, and handling confidential terminations. As People Ops Manager, you will be the go-to for editing and creating company-wide policies to ensure compliance and culture alignment.
This role is based in the Dallas/Ft Worth metro area, and reports to the VP of Business Operations. While occasional work from home days may be accommodated, frequent presence on-set and in the production office will be expected.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive and measure key performance goals for all team members by maintaining an employee performance review process, and analyzing KPIs and billable percentages
- Lead sensitive investigations on policy violations and employee relations matters; partner with leadership and outside counsel to resolve conflicts and effectively execute solutions on compliance and employee relations topics; facilitate harassment prevention trainings
- Manage the employee benefits program, offering input and ways to improve continuously
- Establish and implement a strategic recruitment plan. Create recruitment tools and processes, screen candidates for all necessary positions, and partner with team leads to manage recruitment needs from job posting to 90-day review
- Handle the onboarding process for all new hires including offer letter creation
- Manage and run payroll for all teams including full time, part time and contract employees
- Assist with compensation analysis for all new hires and make suggestions for existing employees
- Create a company awards system and execute the delivery of these awards
- Organize development and training for all employees cross-departmentally
- Work with the VP of Business Operations to build team culture
- Organize and execute company-wide culture-based events
- Create and manage an HR budget
- Manage employee portal and keep it up to date monthly
- Consistently analyze company policies and procedures making sure company is always in compliance
- Be on the forefront of trends in culture, platforms and upcoming issues in HR
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
- Broad generalist background including coaching and counseling, performance management, employee involvement, team building, as well as compensation and benefits
- Familiarity with film and television production environment
- Ability to work in a team environment, but thrives working remotely and independently
- Ability to build relationships and trust with employees
- Strong initiative and organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
- Attention to detail and good judgment
- Great time management and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and effectively
- The ability to multitask and prioritize projects
- Google suite knowledge
- The ability to quickly learn new software as needed including ADP, 15Five, and more.
- Ability to take individual ownership, execute with high energy, share context, insist on candor with positive intent
