All volunteer non-profit organization is seeking student interns to join it's video production team.
We're seeking interns on a rolling basis to start between July and September for a minimum term of 3 months with a weekly commitment of 5-15 hours, depending on student's availability and program requirements (for school credit).
This internship is primarily remote, hours are flexible as long as work deadlines are being met. Students may be based ANYWHERE, although a native or fluent speaking / reading / writing proficiency in English is expected. There is a mandatory 1-hour conference call for all video production team members, including interns, on Sundays at 12PM PT via Google Meet. If you are not able to attend this weekly call, please do not apply. There may be other mandatory calls but they will be scheduled times that are convenient for the whole team.
If Student happens to be near one of our on-set production shoots, then they will be offered the opportunity to attend the shoot and participate as a production assistant. Production is likely to happen in Los Angeles, but that is still TBD.
The video production team is currently in pre-production on our first video in a series which deals with mental health. Each video in the series will present a fictional story but aims to represent the mental health condition with a level of realism that is lacking in Hollywood. The intention of the series is to fight stigma associated with mental health. The videos are going to be submitted via film festivals OR released digitally via the non-profit's YouTube and social media channels.
Please note that the content of the videos and production conversations might be triggering for some people. We welcome those with mental health experience to our team, however, please do not apply if you are at risk of being triggered by mental health content and conversations (incl. depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts or ideation, bipolar, PTSD, and other serious mental health conditions).
Interns will be supervised by the video production team volunteers. The team includes a mix of mental health professionals, entertainment industry professionals, and non-profit executives.
Under supervision, interns will have the opportunity to be actively involved in the production of the video series. Do more than just get coffee and take notes!! Learn to write script coverage (or develop your coverage skills), write treatments and character profiles, draft scripts, workshop your writing and the work of others, make creative suggestions and be heard!! When assigning tasks, we will take the student's professional area of interest into account whenever possible.
Students from any major program are welcomed to apply, however, priority will be given to students who are majoring in film, tv, communications, OR any adjacent multimedia / digital field, OR psychology, counseling, sociology.
Requirements:
- Must have reliable access to a computer with internet access
- Must have a positive attitude and a passion for entertainment production AND/OR mental health awareness
- Students should have (at least) a basic working proficiency in the Google suite of tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Mail)
- Be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement which prevents you from speaking about specifics of the projects with anyone outside the team (including, on social media)
The 3 month minimum commitment is a requirement, however, students who are interested in participating in the internship for a longer period of time (or whose programs require additional hours), may request to extend. Extensions will be granted as long as the Student has maintained a positive attitude, has provided good quality work, and has consistently met or exceeded deadlines.
