Job Description
Our Production company is seeking a Head of Development, reporting to the CEO. As this is a startup production company, this executive will have the opportunity to oversee and lead all of development. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, passionate and able to work well in a team and alone. They will have proven development and production experience, strong entertainment relationships, and a talent for identifying potential IPs.
Responsibilities
• Identify writers and producers for television and feature development.
• Identify source material.
• Attend pitch and general meetings.
• Write coverage for scripts and source material.
• Work closely with writers to develop story and scripts.
• Participate in notes calls and meetings.
• Maintain relationships with agents, managers, producers and network partners.
• Provide assistance to other projects when necessary.
• Manage daily operational duties and lead a team.
• Pitch projects to agents, management companies, studios, and producer.
• Leverage connections to build the company
Qualifications
• College degree. Related field strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of executive level experience in development at a studio, network, agency, or production company.
• Strong relationships with agencies, management companies and producers.
• Avid reader.
• Knowledge of television and feature (past and present).
• Knowledge of story structure.
• Ability to generate creative ideas for projects.
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
• Must be a team player and understand that there is no task too small.
• Ability to multi-task, organize and schedule work effectively.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, when necessary.
