The Director, Global Payroll is a high level visibility leadership opportunity to elevate and manage global payroll and related activities for employees globally. This role will provide strategic direction and expertise to the payroll function as well as leadership of the global payroll delivery team. This will include ensuring proper and adequate controls and processes as well as driving global payroll consolidation and supporting any implementations and continuous improvement of an integrated global payroll system, tools and associated processes.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure Company's payroll accuracy and timely processing in all countries as well as the processing in accordance with global best policies and procedures within all legislative compliance requirements (including tax and labor laws).
• Key performance metric indicators for the payroll department - Develop and implement.
• Have a very strong knowledge in development and monitoring of internal payroll controls.
• Directs and audits payroll procedures to include earnings, garnishments, tax withholding, and absence processing globally and ensure compliance with organizational procedures.
• Is well versed with payroll tax related matters and General Accounting related to month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process.
• Maintain payroll tax liability account reconciliations properly.
• Evaluate reporting, communication updates and prioritizing improvement opportunities to ensure seamless systems integration, process efficiency, and standardization through collaboration with Controller, Finance, Human Resources and IT.
• Maximize department efficiencies and prioritization based on operational requirements/deadlines of the payroll department.
• Maintains confidentiality and ensures payroll information is secure for any payroll, private employee and any proprietary information.
• Be the key stakeholder in implementations of new modules by supporting HRIS optimization and other initiatives as a result of identifying process improvements and creating opportunities for automation by reducing manual processes.
• Be able to identify changes in policy and procedures governed by federal, state and local laws that affect the payroll function.
• Resolve all root cause analysis and corrective action for all level of employees and management payroll issues that are brought to the department.
• System Enhancements - include recommendations, development, testing and implementation by executing solutions to any processing issues.
• Responsible for the following: timely/accurate payroll tax reconciliation, compliance with all filing returns and issuance of W-2 forms.
• Documents and maintains payroll tax practices including training of all team members.
• Achieve successful business results with internal and external customers.
• Foster and execute diverse perspectives and backgrounds to negotiate positive outcomes that impact the work of internal, external and cross-functional partners.
• Complete requests by senior management to include special projects/ad hoc.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years payroll management experience in a large scale global, multi-site, multi-state environment is required.
• Technical Knowledge to include Global tax withholding, reporting regulations and payroll tax accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR or other business-related field is required.
• Certified Payroll Professionals (CPP) designation preferred.
• Working knowledge of HRIS, payroll systems and payroll tax filings is required.
• Have the ability to think globally, strategically and objectively along with strong leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role with key projects.
• Demonstrated drive for excellence in customer and operational support by leading, coaching, developing and inspiring a global team by setting team goals, and measuring and communicating successes/achievements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Have the ability to facilitate change supported by a strong management style and experience in a fast pace global environment.
