Title: Director, Digital Distribution & Acquisitions
Hours: Approximate 20 - 30 hours a month (but will be as needed to complete the job duties for this role)
Minimum Commitment: 1-2 years (with ability to freelance for other companies simultaneously that are not a direct conflict of interest)
Location: Telecommute with base of operation ideally in Southern California or Portland, Oregon
Reports To: CEO
Travel: To key industry markets and festivals on the west coast, as needed and requested by company.
Job Description: The Director, Digital Distribution & Acquisitions will play an instrumental role in helping company build and expand its content acquisitions vertical, as well as manage day-to-day digital distribution responsibilities. The qualified candidate will be responsible for company's front-facing content acquisitions business including, but not limited to: engaging new prospective producers, filmmakers, and show runners about company's content pass-through business vertical; managing new content acquisitions leads; serving as the main point of contact with the producers/content rights holders throughout the entire sales and distribution process in utilizing content pass-through; and help to identify key content acquisitions strategies for the company and work with the team to expand the original series acquisitions strategy. Opportunities also include managing company's website and social media presence; editing and creating sales materials; writing and distributing press releases, as needed; creating company presentation decks; and more.
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day tracking of company's catalog and new release content pass-through titles.
• Manage and up keep the company master catalog grid.
• Manage and up keep the company title placement/carriage grid.
• Design, create and submit monthly and/or quarterly company content avails grids to be sent out to all of our platform content partners, accordingly.
• Work closely with platform partners to help secure title pick-up placement.
• Work closely with platform partners' promotions and marketing teams to get title visibility and support wherever possible.
• Provide creative support in creating bible deck presentations for original series representation, as needed and per client request.
• Manage and update company's website, as needed.
• Manage company's social media presence in order to bring awareness to our content pass-through titles.
• Assist the CEO, COO and VP, World Wide Sales to help maximize the company's overall revenue goals and objectives, as needed.
• Manage day-to-day content acquisitions business unit.
• Assist in building company's original content acquisitions strategy.
• Manage day-to-day correspondence with filmmakers and producers.
• Advise and guide ocompany's overall acquisitions strategy as it relates to content pass-through.
• Serve as lead negotiator on all acquisition deals.
• Miscellaneous responsibilities as needed or assigned as it relates to this role.
Required Skills: This position requires strong knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365, with particular focus using Outlook, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Must possess strong writing, editing and overall communication skills. Must possess strong knowledge and expertise in creating and maintaining metadata grids and being EMA compliant. Must have content distribution/acquisitions background and baseline relationships with digital retailers and/or platform providers. Baseline experience in selling and marketing to platform partners and retailers is highly desirable. Motivation for sales; business development, sales planning and forecasting; selling to customer needs. Exceptional presentation skills, high energy level and professionalism. Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram. Knowledge of Adobe products, including Illustrator, is a plus. Knowledge of HTML is a plus. Impressive list of contacts to filmmakers and producers preferred. Knowledge of key industry markets and festivals is desired. Contacts with key industry digital retail platforms and MSOs is a plus.
