Position: Client Accounting Assistant
Location: New York, NY
Major talent agency with offices in Los Angeles and New York is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our client accounting department in the New York office. In this role, candidates will learn how a talent agency works from the inside, with a concentration on deals made for our theatre and literary talent.
This is an assistant role with opportunity for advancement and growth within the client accounting department. We are looking for candidates who are interested in pursuing a long-term role in entertainment finance or talent accounting.
Responsibilities include:
• Opening, sorting and scanning checks
• Processing client payments
• Assisting with payment reconciliations
• Preparing bank deposits
• Assisting the department with payment inquiries/follow-ups
• Filing pertinent documents and paperwork for the department, including client contracts
• Handling phone calls and e-mails in regards to client payments
• Interacting with buyers regarding client payments
• Consulting agents, agents' assistants, and clients and their representatives regarding payment related inquiries
• Assisting with overall operations and research for ad-hoc projects for the department and agency
Must be detail-oriented, be able to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced and autonomous environment.
Experience with accounting for an entertainment company (studio, agency, union, production company, payroll, etc.) and/or experience in the theatre industry is strongly preferred, but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Business Administration (a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Management preferred but not required)
Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Word/Excel/Outlook, and 10-key
Comfortable handling phone calls
Multi-tasking & prioritizing urgent issues effectively
Discretion is essential
Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining strict attention to detail
