A leading New York based production company is looking for a qualified and highly motivated Manager / Paralegal for its Business & Legal Affairs and Rights & Clearances departments. This role will primarily focus on managing archival across all projects. The right candidate will also assist the Senior Vice President, Counsel and Rights & Clearances Supervisor with day-to-day production legal, legal processes, and rights & clearances.
The scope of work will include:
Responsible for overseeing the pulling, logging, tracking and licensing all third-party archive material on projects in development and active production.
Review, draft and/or redline all related licenses and materials releases, confirming all necessary rights are acquired and noting restrictions, where applicable.
Acting as a liaison between production / post production / development teams and networks / digital distributors regarding related agreements.
Managing relationships with industry leading archive licensors (Getty, AP, CAA, Veritone, etc.).
Updating and maintaining archive status reports.
Contract management.
Assisting with special projects and other tasks as required.
This position requires an extremely capable individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, is self-motivated, detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, and is willing to work extended hours, often under pressure. Applicants should also possess the following:
A minimum of 5 years of experience working in-house in the business affairs, legal and/or rights and clearances department of a production company, cable or broadcast television network, studio, agency or law firm.
Archival licensing experience.
Knowledge of post-production process.
Extremely organized.
Strong initiative to take on tasks and to set priorities and deadlines, with a demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment.
Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent people skills and ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external partners.
Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
