Boutique entertainment transactional law firm is looking to expand its team with a dynamic, fun, highly motivated attorney to join its digital, TV, music and technology group. You'll draft and negotiate content development, production, distribution, music, brand and influencer related agreements on behalf of the firm's clients. This role involves owning client relationships and the desire and capability to juggle a high volume of diverse projects daily. You will not be doing the same things day in and out (so don't worry if the thought of repeating the same agreements over and over makes you cringe). You'll get to do hands on heavy drafting of varied shapes and sizes, all requiring rapid, yet high quality output, free from typos or errors.
Required Competencies/Skills:
Takes pride in providing high quality service to fun, interesting clients, and building relationships
Strong relevant background (preferably with a solid firm), with experience in delivering high quality contract drafting, with impressive attention to detail
Experience in providing sound judgment and business affairs advice to high profile clients
Adept at assessing and prioritizing multiple competing projects simultaneously
History of effective deal negotiating, while maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with clients and opposing counsel
Desire to be part of an integrated team and to play a role in its success and expansion
Energized and enthusiastic, seeking opportunities to take charge and add value outside of the box
Nimble and able to operate at a high level with minimal supervision
Excellent academic credentials and references
Must have general computer skills, a working knowledge of Mac OS X, Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Access and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
Special Requirements/Preferences:
Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience as a licensed practicing attorney (J.D.) in an entertainment law firm or business/legal affairs position at a major digital or TV studio, network or distribution company, with heavy emphasis on drafting. Basic corporate experience a plus. Though, frankly, if you're tired of big law firm life and want a change, we'd be open to discussing with you as well (we've been there…).
Mandatory Minimum Qualifications:
• Current member of California State Bar, with no record of discipline or malpractice claims.
• Graduate of an ABA accredited law school.
