Associate Producer / Shooter
Do you genuinely like to work hard knowing that it will impact the key political/social issues of the day?
This is a full-time position with a non-profit organization, but looking for candidates who have the experience balanced between Research/PreProduction and in the field shooting. You must thrive on digging deeper, finding the full story, and paying attention to detailed accuracy in statistics and facts. Must not get discouraged or easily give up, and knows that the phrase ''I couldn't find anything'', is a drastic last resort.
When it comes to production, you are comfortable and enjoy heading out alone or with a second camera operator to shoot interviews and broll. You understand the importance of clean audio, and a nice interview frame, with useable broll. The term ''One-Person-Band'' does not scare you.

Responsibilities:
• Report directly to the Supervising Producer to develop video concepts in coordination with other departments.
• Oversee detailed research, including facts, statistics, casting for interview subjects, and video/still assets.
• Cultivate extensive contact lists for casting
• Finding good stories that fit the story we are trying to tell.
• Kindly persuasive to get people to say yes and keeping track of the various asks to know when to follow up and how hard to push.
• Handle preliminary outreach and pre-phone interviews with potential subjects.
• Some writing of scripts from interview transcripts.
• Write Interview Questions
• Update schedules for multiple, simultaneous, projects on tight deadlines
• Relay creative direction and notes as assigned by Supervising Producer and Executive Producer
• Maintain records archives for each project
• Understand and support rights and clearances for all research, in collaboration with the legal team.
• Fact checking for videos (stats, numbers, names, etc)
• Coordinate delivery schedules with editors
• Obtain materials releases, legal clearances, music clearances, footage/photo clearances
• QC with an eye on facts
• Provide Administrative support for the Production team
- Creating Calendars
- Updating databases
- Organizing databases
• Stay up to date on the latest news with articles and press releases on the subject matter
• General understanding of approach by social justice groups to topic
• Assigning tasks to interns - being able to manage others.
Pre-production/Production Duties:
• Locations: search/lock/clearance
• Travel: Arrangements, schedule, and book
• Conduct Interviews
• Field Produce internal and freelance small cews
• Can Camera Operate (DSLR or C300 formats)
• Production releases
Desired Qualifications:
• 2-3+ years work experience in a role requiring extensive research and organization
• 2-3+ years work experience on set and Docustyle or ENG camera work.
• Highly organized
• Familiarity with Fair Use
• Strong problem solver
• Ability or background in editing a plus, but not mandatory
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in social justice issues and politics
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word- Office 365, Google Docs, and Basecamp
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong writing skills
