Growing independent production company is seeking an associate localization writer to assist in the process of writing English-language dialogue scripts for foreign language television and film content. Writer will use proprietary software to adapt literal translations of foreign language scripts into naturalized, fluid English. Special care must be taken regarding the length and rhythm of the line, as well as matching the approximate mouth shape of the actor in the source video.
Software training will be provided once hired, but high macOS and overall tech competence is required. Software is macOS only - all applicants must own a 2016 or later model of Mac laptop or desktop computer. Pay rate is per content minute, starting at approximately $10 per content minute. Writers comfortable with the process and software commonly complete 5 to 10 content minutes per hour.
Knowledge of foreign languages not required. The ideal candidate is a confident and experienced prose writer with a passion for fiction and a sense for television character dialogue. Exemplary grasp of American English spelling and grammar are essential. Other key attributes include a large vocabulary, a quick mind for problem-solving, and a preference for working in longer blocks of time over short bursts. Position is fully remote and asynchronous. All candidates must be US-based and able to work without restriction in the United States.
