Freelance Assistant Editor
Seeking a freelance Avid Assistant Editor who has experience with tapeless formats but can adapt to new media tools in Post Production. Must be organized, proactive, and detail-oriented. Core duties will include but are not limited too: Ingesting tapes or files; syncing & grouping elements; pulling selects; logging footage; stringing-out scripts; exporting/outputting cuts; exporting EDLs; creating shot logs; filling out music cue sheets; Online uprezing; final mix prep and audio AAF export; footage re-conform; media management; client interaction; workflow management; equipment assessment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessing Footage as it comes in and promptly notifying appropriate teams of any problems or potential issues with media, projects, sources, etc.
Maintain consistent naming conventions and organization of projects, folders, bins and files. -
First-line troubleshooting of Avid, and other post hardware/software
Prepare for finishing all prepared pieces. This may include uprezing for Online/Color grading and creating audio AAFs for final mixes.
Assist in prioritizing and streamlining needed tasks.
Maintain project security in all tasks.
Work creatively with Producers and Editors when needed: addressing notes or reviewing cuts.
Maintain clear communication with Post Supervisors, Producers, APs, and - Coordinators regarding project and task status, and resource delegation. -
Collaborate with editors and producers to execute a vision. -
Be independently motivated.
Have a professional work ethic.
Have a keen sense of efficient workflows & quality control.
Keep on task and finish all urgent assignments for the day.
Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
Education and Work Experience:
A background or education in Film, Television, Post Production, Marketing, Advertising or related field is preferred, but not necessary. -
Must be Mac proficient with a working knowledge of Word and Excel. -
Knowledge of Avid workflows is required.
Must have previous Post Production experience as an Avid Assistant Editor.
