Agent's Assistant (For The Owner)
I've promoted my assistant so I'm on the hunt.
The first month of this job will likely be around 30 hours per week. Seeking someone looking for a future in this business of talent representation specifically.
Pay is min wage with immediate commission opportunities. Raises based on performance.
You must have flexibility from 9am - 7pm.
See the insane post below that I made on this site a little over three years ago so you know what we're expecting in your response. 75% of the applicants in the the last round of hiring were knocked out because they didn't read it thoroughly.
----------------------------------------------------------
We're a smaller, well established ATA member and AFTRA Franchised talent agency.
Seeking a talent agent's assistant. This position will start out as part time and will more than likely become full time very quickly.
First, we are not looking for an applicant who just needs a job to get by. We are looking for someone that has already decided that this is what they want to do with their career. This position will start out at minimum wage, so in the beginning you had better be resourceful, motivated and and willing to sacrifice lifestyle in exchange for unlimited potential.
Secondly, we're not looking for an applicant with aspirations to be an actor, model, musician, dancer, comedian, etc. If you've been involved in these careers in the past, you will not be taken out of the running, but you can not be actively pursuing them today. This job requires full and undivided focus and hard work. There are no two ways about it, this is a career and a lifestyle.
Our ultimate goal is to groom the assistant into an agent. As an assistant there will be commission participation opportunities almost immediately.
Here are a list of skills and traits which will give you an edge in getting to the interview process. Please understand that if you do not possess some of these skills it in no way will take you out of the running for this position.
Skills: general internet, Gmail, Google Docs, Excel, Photoshop, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Youtube, legal background, sales background, knowledge and passion for the entertainment business, prior experience in entertainment related fields, strong social and networking skills, honesty, reliability, ability to think on your feet, Windows, Mac OS, reliable transportation (or never let it be an issue), typing skills (please find an online typing test and email a screenshot along with your resume), and most importantly... attention to detail. We are dealing with people's careers, lives and schedules. A simple mistake in the date of and interview or booking is devastating.
Thank you for your time in reading this post. We are looking forward to reviewing your resume and cover letter.
*Your cover letter is probably more important than your resume.
