Position: Director, Finance & Accounting
FilmNation Entertainment, a leading producer, financier, and distributor of independent films, is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting for its New York office to start immediately. The company is a destination for many of the world's most renowned filmmakers, and the films it has worked on have grossed over $2.5 billion worldwide in the past 6 years and garnered over 30 Academy Award nominations, including 4 for Best Picture. The company produced and financed Arrival starring Amy Adams, The Big Sick starring Kumail Nanjiani and The Founder starring Michael Keaton, and it oversaw international distribution on The Imitation Game, The King's Speech, Sing Street and Room amongst others.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant company and work within a collaborative and fun environment. We are looking for a Director of Finance & Accounting with 5+ years of accounting and finance experience. The Director will report to the SVP, Finance & Accounting, and will also work closely with the COO, CEO and the Co-Presidents of Production
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Statements.
2. General Ledger - Maintain General Ledger Accounts and drive the month-end and year-end close process.
3. Oversee the funding of production and development projects.
4. Manage the corporate credit facility.
5. Manage corporate electronic expense reporting system and integration with the accounting system.
6. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
7. Assist with preparation of the financial package for the Board of Directors.
8. Create and analyze monthly variance reports.
9. Work with production and development department in preparing the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts
10. Monitor cash closely and proactively address variance. Ensure appropriate and controlled cash disbursements. Analyze future cash requirements so that financing needs are addressed in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
1. BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field
2. 5+ years accounting experience. Entertainment industry experience a plus.
3. CPA and/or MBA a plus
4. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL a plus
