The Manager of Program Acquisitions will handle day-to-day aspects of programming acquisitions across all platforms for Comedy Central, The Paramount Network and TV Land domestic. Working in tandem with the SVP of the department, the manager is responsible for assisting in the identification of off-network content - including feature films and syndicated series. This role is both internal and external facing; working directly with executives from the major Hollywood studios. Internally, the manager will help to determine terms of licensing including broadcast windows, runs, license fees, distribution and TV Everywhere / on demand rights. This role sits within the Programming department and supports the team by providing the best and most appropriate content to license based on brand and network directionality. Stakeholders include the Development, Finance & Legal teams. The role demands collaboration with other internal groups such as Marketing, Ad Sales, Research, On-Air and requires a high level of discretion.
• Work with SVP to canvas landscape for appropriate third party media content including syndicated series, movies & third party stand up specials
• Maintain series/feature avail lists, competitive schedules, performance trackers
• Manage delivery & planning aspects of acquired series launches on the network
• Work closely with the linear programming team to ensure that cross team components are integrated into overall launch/campaign plans
• Partner with Programming teams across brands to execute movie trades and carves
• Maintain relationships with major studios and independent distributors
• Liaise with internal departments including Original Programming, On-Air Promotions, Marketing, Digital Media, Research, Media Relations, Brand Management and Ad Sales to generate cohesive cross platform programming plans
• Attend markets and screenings as necessary
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree
• 3 - 5 years experience in television acquisitions
• Strong user of multi-platform media technologies
Additional Qualifications
• Strong finance & analytical skills
• Familiarity with network scheduling systems (PTS, SIMS or similar)
• Proficient in all office suite products including Word, Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel
• Strong working knowledge of television business
• Awareness of the competitive landscape and pop culture
• Ability to work well with others
• Familiarity with Comedy Central, The Paramount Network and TV Land programming
