Responsibilities
Role Summary
This News Assistant role with will provide editorial support to the news team with particular focus on Chinese content. They will also provide support in research, logging tapes and will learn the fundamentals of TV news production, working as part of a team on a daily news program. They will also begin to learn about Asian business and markets, and the fundamentals for journalism.
Qualifications/Requirements
The main responsibilities include:
• Liaise closely with production team in China and Singapore to ensure all content is ready for broadcast
• Translation and coordination of scripts for checking of accuracy between Chinese and English
• Preparation of elements and graphics
• Working closely with editors to cut video and checking content against scripts
• Prepare short pitches in Chinese
• Managing the teleprompter
Requirements and Desired Characteristics:
• Languages: fluent in Chinese and English written and speaking is essential
• Those willing to learn and work in a fast-paced, demanding live news environment
• Computer literate, strong communication and organization skills
• Knowledge of business and / or finance would be highly advantageous
• A great team player who displays flexibility to possibly work varied hours dependent upon business needs
• Capability to handle deadline pressure and work under the demands of a daily live show
• Prior internship experience in TV News Production preferred, but again, not essential
