Responsibilities
The Communications Associate, EMEA manages press and communication activities for CNBC across EMEA, ensuring the brand is positively positioned in front of both audience and trade partners and its reputation as first in business and financial news is maintained. The Communications Associate handles media relations, delivers coverage of key news stories and business wins. In addition, the Communications Associate, EMEA is responsible for all-staff internal communications across the region, working in concert with the Communications Manager, APAC. Working with key internal stakeholders in every department across the organization, this individual has an exceptional ability to build strong and constructive working relationships. This role reports to the Head of International Communications & Strategic Partnerships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
• Partner with the CNBC's EMEA newsroom to identify and disseminate breaking news and big interviews
• Work with field producers to gain content when CNBC reporters are on location at events, such as Mobile World Congress, RISE conference
• Create PR plans for CNBC's long form content including research, building media lists and pitching and coordinating interviews for talent and producers
• Generate press materials including news releases, media alerts, programming announcements, pitch letters and talking points
• Partner with internal teams across the business to identify publicity opportunities, including CNBC's commercial division Catalyst
• Actively contribute to the networks distribution communications strategy working with internal and external partners
• Develop relationships with the organisations appearing on the network to bolster CNBC's reputation amongst key stakeholders and PR industry leaders
• Proactively work with PR and media agencies to position CNBC as the number one business and financial news network
• Seek opportunities to profile editorial and corporate leaders within the news/advertising media industry
• Build and maintain positive relationships with business, consumer and trade press
• Cultivate positive relationships with talent, producers and newsdesk to help external and internal communication flow
• Manage internal photo shoots for business day programs, talent and events
• Oversee CNBC's entry into external awards from working with internal teams to get data, drafting the copy for the awards to submitting them
• Manage and upkeep of the @CNBCiPR Twitter feed on a daily basis
• Partner with CNBC's social media and digital team to promote content online
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
• Manage the production of CNBC International's weekly internal newsletter, Inside CNBC
• Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news and provide briefings to senior leadership on developments
• Work with the Head of International Communications & Strategic Partnerships to deliver an active and informed internal communications programme which engages internal audiences
• Play a fundamental role in the planning and delivery of leadership communications including the quarterly Town Hall from the CNBC President and CEO
• Manage and track the EMEA Communications budget working closely with the APAC team to ensure rigorous attention to detail on all PR and comms related costs
Qualifications
/Requirements
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENT
• Prior experience in either internal communications, marketing communications or PR
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills, combining the ability to build effective networks of relations within the business
• Ability to multi-task, working on multiple projects with minimal supervision, and to tight deadlines
• Strong communicator, who is articulate, dynamic, enthusiastic and a self-starter
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
• Strong interest in and knowledge of news media desirable
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint a plus
• Willingness to travel a bonus
