Responsibilities
The CNBC Digital Technology team is seeking a senior software engineer / architect to manage and build software solutions across CNBC's web platforms. Primarily focusing on front end development, this role requires hands-on software development skills, deep technical expertise across the entire software development process. Engineer will take a leading role in defining the technical roadmap for CNBC's web platforms.
• Research, identify and rollout new technology components
• Collaborate in low-level architectural discussions and decisions to ensure architectural consistency and capability
• Define and maintain coding standards for the frontend engineering team and perform code reviews to enforce code quality, unit test scripts and code coverage
• Responsively assist developers in removing immediate bottlenecks that hamper project agility (e.g. Environmental issues, high-priority technical tasks or research that affect the immediate product timeline, etc.)
• Contribute architectural improvements to ongoing projects (e.g. Error handling , framework upgrades, new technology integration etc.)
• Identify and remediate deficiencies in the developer workflow, enabling developers to become more self-sufficient (e.g. Providing debugging tools to allow developers to solve problems themselves)

Qualifications/Requirements

• 5 years of modern web development experience
• Experience with full stack development including server and client-side technologies building single page applications using ReactJS, Node and Express
• Experience building GraphQL schemas and reusable services
• Expert in JavaScript with knowledge of ES5, ES6 and JSX
• Experience in unit testing using Jest or similar frameworks and following test-driven development
• Experience with responsive design, developing for mobile web and tablets
• Experience in building CSS using SASS
• Experience in Angular is a plus
• Experience in performance, scalability, security, architecture, and engineering best practices
• Experience working on large scale, high traffic web sites
• Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest in emerging technologies/trends on web development
• Must be able to work onsite at CNBC headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. A van service is available for employees commuting from New York City and New Jersey (Jersey City and others).
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

• Databases: MySQL, MongoDB and other document-based databases
