Full-Time position; Independent Contractor
An independent film production & distribution studio located in Burbank, CA, specializing in documentaries and independent narrative films, is seeking a Publicity, Promotion & Social Media Coordinator for a six month contract.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects and deadlines from multiple sources while demonstrating a professional DIY/''can-do'' attitude. Aspects of marketing will include publicity, social media and promotional/audience mobilization campaigns.
Great opportunity to learn the full scope of film distribution. Coordinator will be joining the team at a time when the company may grow exponentially and will work closely with the head of marketing. Opportunity for learning and growth.
Overview: Coordinator will act as a liaison with most team members and departments as well as filmmakers to develop effective marketing tools and campaign implementation. Willing to teach an eager and enthusiastic candidate.
PUBLICITY & CONTENT
• Spearhead development of press materials including press notes, press releases, still selections, clips, etc.
• Develop media lists from database
• Pitch media by email and phone
• Deliver screeners (DVD or digital) and follow up with contacts for coverage
• Compile/track media coverage
• Coordinate interview requests
• Write company and film specific content for newsletters
PROMOTION & SOCIAL MEDIA
• Manage social media profiles across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for multiple films (ongoing)
• Develop strategies and partnerships to raise awareness of film before, during and after release
• Contribute to development of assets - either video or graphics. Basic design skills a plus!
• Outreach to affinity groups, non-profits and political organizations depending on the film
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in handling & prioritizing multiple projects
• Strong English language writing, grammar and verbal skills
• PC proficient with strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with Home Entertainment and Digital distribution landscape
• Working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
• 2 -3 years' experience in a professional environment
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Strong grammatical, proofing and copy-writing skills
• Spanish or French language skills a plus!
• Possess great team attitude, harmonious disposition
• Desire to learn the business of film distribution
• Position requires someone that is a self-starter, requires minimum supervision and able to thrive with unexpected change
• 2-3 years' experience in related role
• Technology proficient and familiar with industry file type standards
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Superior attention to detail and follow-through skills
• Passion for social issues and film
