Part Time Paid Internship
Job Title: RCF Fundraising Intern
Department: Reds Community Fund (RCF)
Reports To: Assistant Director, RCF
FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Term: November 1, 2022 – April 1, 2023
Commitment: 20 – 25 hours per week (flexible)
About the Reds Community Fund:
The Cincinnati Reds Community Fund is dedicated to improving the lives of youth by leveraging the tradition of the Cincinnati Reds and the game of baseball. Since its inception in 2001, the Reds Community Fund has used baseball as a vehicle to reach out to kids. As one of the nonprofit arms of baseball's first professional team, the Reds Community Fund (RCF) strives to create programming that connects underserved children with baseball and softball while promoting education, character and service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Redsfest event preparation & execution. Specific duties shall include, but are not limited to:
• Oversight of all activities at the Reds Community Corner retail location during the event
• Inventory preparation and management both prior to as well as during the event
• Recruitment, management and oversight of event volunteers
• Assist with the operation of the Reds Community Fund Split the Pot
• Event set-up, organization and tear down
• Assist with the preparation of the Prestige Audio Visual & Creative Services Rick Steiner Celebrity Poker Tournament presented by Ashlee Fence
• Assist with off season planning and implementation of the Reds Community Fund Split the Pot program
• Assist with the planning of all RCF fundraising events during the 2023 season; which includes, but is not limited to, Reds Community Fund Charity Block Party (Thursday, March 30), Redlegs Run (TBD), and Reds Community Fund Telethon (TBD). All dates subject to change. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, event registration, event mailings, inventory management, promotion/marketing support, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Reds Community Fund staff
Qualifications:
• Prior work experience in at least one business setting and one sales setting is preferred
• Candidate must be currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an accredited college or university; must be at least 18 years of age
• Desire to pursue career in professional sports industry
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
• Familiarity with sales and customer service is strongly preferred, but not required
Requirements:
• Authentic passion for community involvement within the sports and entertainment world
• Availability to work approximately 20-25 hours per week including nights, weekends, holidays (as needed), special events and unusual hours during the period of November 1 – April 1, 2023
• Present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, game day guests, and, on occasion, Reds players & coaches
• Excel at the following skills: time management, multi-tasking, communication (verbal, telephone, email and written), customer service, leadership, prioritization, protection of confidential materials and working independently
• Ability to identify problems, develop solutions and resolve issues quickly and effectively
• Ability to handle and coordinate large groups of people in a secure and sensitive area
• Must have strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and be detail-oriented; humble enough to handle a variety of tasks
• General knowledge of baseball (desired but not required)
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; must be able to provide own means of transportation
Please Note:
• This is a seasonal opportunity and no benefits will be provided
• Seasonal staff members will receive a salary of $12/hour
Work Environment:
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however each seasonal staff member will have responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
• Hours will include nights, weekends, holidays and at times unusual hours.
• Ability to remain standing for extended periods of time and walk up/down multiple flights of stairs throughout shift (as needed)
