Job Title: Human Resources Specialist
Reports To: Human Resources Director
Job Purpose: This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective strategies to recruit and hire top industry talent and methods to educate and enhance performance as well as foster retention of staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Execute recruiting/talent acquisition strategies to secure top, full time talent for our organization, which consists of partnering with hiring managers to fully understand staffing needs as well as creating job descriptions and postings.
• Lead all onboarding for employees including conducting background screens and motor vehicle reports, completion of all HR and payroll forms and new hire orientation.
• Prepare annual MLB EEO reports and workforce analysis.
• Coordinate ongoing management training program complete with toolkits and other necessary resources.
• Manage the company's performance development process for all full-time employees.
• Schedule exit interviews with full time employees to solicit information about potential organizational/departmental improvements and strengths.
• Manage and lead company retention efforts including morale and employee recognition.
• Advise employee and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs and procedures. Ensure that programs are carried out with the organization's best interests in mind and policies and procedures are likewise applied.
• Carry out administrative work involving the HR functions and maintain related records.
• Maintain records to ensure compliance as required with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
Experience, Education and Licensure:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
• Master's degree or PHR a strong plus.
• Minimum of three to five years of experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Understanding of state and federal employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO and FLSA).
• Understanding of, and some experience with, most or all of the core aspects of Human Resource Management including recruiting/staffing, employee relations, performance management, leadership development/training.
• Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items.
• Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
• Ability to work without supervision and make appropriate decisions, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and process work with accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be capable of mastering Paycor HR Performer software and reports.
• Have a high level of interpersonal skill and ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
• Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, data entry, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff and employees.
• Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
• The position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
