Department: Reds Hall of Fame and Museum
Job Title: Retail and Merchandise Ambassador
Reports To: Visitor Services and Retail Manager
FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Seasonal 30-40 hrs per week
Job Purpose: The storied history of baseball in Cincinnati is on display at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore. The Retail and Merchandise Ambassador will play a vital role in executing the museum's varied merchandise initiatives throughout the 2019 baseball season, with a particular emphasis on those initiatives tied to the museum's game day sales and promotions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with retail and merchandise operations in the sale of memorabilia and general baseball merchandise
• Proactively engage customers to drive merchandise sales
• Oversee the set up and break down of Hall of Fame's outside game day dedicated merchandise area
• Organize and maintain the appearance of the Hall of Fame's museum store and promote sales
• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all sales products
• Assist in the implementation of targeted merchandise programs and promotions to increase sales
• Maintain an accurate inventory of merchandise and promotional items and submit a month-end hand count of all items
• Assist in the receipt and distribution of large deliveries of merchandise and promotional items
• Assist in the maintenance of all merchandise and promotional item storage spaces
• Ensure that all display and distribution areas are sufficiently stocked with product relative to anticipated customer traffic/demand
• Assist merchandise staff in the main building, game day fan zone operations and off site events
• Effectively use POS processing and assist with end of day close out financials
• Other duties as assigned
Experience, Education and Licensure:
• High School diploma and equivalent work experience required
• Candidate must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekend dates as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
• Must be a team player who is self-motivated, creative and can proactively solve problems
• Must present a professional attitude and appearance and have a desire to succeed
• Must be open to learning and upgrading of skills and accepting supervision from Hall of Fame managers; possess strong interpersonal and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds or more occasionally
• Knowledge of basic Reds history is required, with the desire to learn the background of the Reds franchise and its relationship to collectors and fans alike
• Previous experience in retail and point of sale operations desirable
