Department: Baseball Operations
Job Title: Coordinator, Baseball Analytics
Reports To: Manager of Baseball Analytics
FLSA: Salary, Exempt
Job Purpose: Work with the Manager of Baseball Analytics and Assistant General Manager in optimizing the performance of a growing analytics team. The analytics team is tasked with providing data-driven insights to the Cincinnati Reds, including coaches, players, and front office staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as project manager for large analysis and software development projects.
• Work to shape project goals, schedules, and deliverables to maximize business value while minimizing risk.
• Lead effective meetings and optimize team communications.
• Assist in documenting and maintaining team vision and project roadmaps.
• Identify best practices in daily workflows and remove roadblocks.
• Collaborate with Major League Operations, Player Development, Sports Science and Scouting departments to plan, manage and integrate analyses.
• Ad hoc data analysis projects as time allows.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• 2 years of experience with technical project management.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Background working within an agile framework.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with all aspects of Baseball Operations, Scouting and Player Development staffs.
• Experience supporting applied research and development is preferred.
• Understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g. R, Python) and database querying (SQL) is a plus.
• Knowledge of current baseball research, traditional baseball statistics and strategy is preferred.
Work Environment:
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Hours may periodically include nights, weekends and holidays.
Expectations:
• Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures.
• Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization.
• Performs duties as workload necessitates.
• Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
• Meet Department productivity standards.
