Position: Manager of External Reporting
The Company
Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, Inc. (''CSSE'') is a rapidly expanding producer and distributor of high-quality, entertaining television and online video programming. We own an exclusive, perpetual and worldwide licenses to create and distribute video content under the beloved Chicken Soup for the Soul brand, as well as, Crackle Plus, Screen Media Ventures and CSS Television Group
The Opportunity
As CSSE's External Reporting Manager, you will manage the SEC filings and financial reporting process from beginning to end and work cross functionally with the business unit and corporate finance teams. In the role, you will gain exposure on internal and external reporting, budgeting, capital raising transactions and M&A activity. As part of the CSSE corporate team, you will have the opportunity work with various operating groups across the CSSE organization and gain exposure to many corporate operational areas. We are looking for someone who is team oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be a part of rapidly growing entertainment company.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation of the periodic SEC reporting (10-K and 10-Q) and registration statements for capital raising activities.
• Prepare SEC compliant financial statements and related footnotes
• Work with business unit finance teams to maintain internal reporting process
• Support external auditors in completing the quarterly reviews and annual audits of the SEC financials and other filings
• Assist in the preparation and review of periodic earnings releases and related materials.
• Assist with technical accounting for business unit transactions and the implementation of new accounting standards.
• Assist with monthly CSSE Corporate accounting (stock-based compensation, debt, lease accounting, EPS calculations)
• Support monthly financial consolidation process, internal reporting and debt compliance and reporting and other ad hoc projects as they arise
• Support annual budgeting and quarterly estimate process
• Work with corporate business development and business unit finance teams, to support acquisition diligence and evaluation of acquisition targets
• Develop/maintain corporate accounting policies, financial accounting processes and make recommendations for business unit financial process improvements
• Support CSSE financial reporting controls
• Review complex business transactions and recommended appropriate accounting (revenue recognition, estimates and highly judgmental accounting areas)
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Accounting; Masters degree a plus
• CPA preferred but not required.
• 5-7 years of experience in audit at a public accounting firm (Big 4 or larger national firm) and/or public company financial reporting.
• Experience preparing financial statements and footnote disclosures included in forms 10-K/10-Q.
• Proficient in Excel
• Experience with Toppan Merrill Bridge or Workiva, preferred but not required.
• Experience with Sage Intacct, preferred but not required.
Reports to: VP, External Reporting & Accounting
Location: CT or NY (hybrid work schedule)
