JOB TITLE: Manager, Safety and Security Operations
DEPARTMENT: Safety and Security Department
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Safety and Security
FLSA STATUS: Salary, Exempt
ROLE
The Manager, Safety and Security Operations will, as a principal member of the Safety and Security leadership team, be critical to executing the overall strategy to effectively and efficiently identify, mitigate, prevent, or eliminate unnecessary risk facing the Cubs organization by following an Intelligence-led approach to organizational security. Specifically, this position will lead the Security Operations team which provides 24/7 safety and security services to the Wrigley Field campus, provides direct supervision to the Cubs Armed Security Program (CASP), provides direct supervision to fan ingress and egress operations (including scheduling of seasonal and part-time staff and management of supporting technology), and management of and any contract security companies or personnel providing enhanced gameday and concert security services as contractually defined. The Manager, Safety and Security Operations will manage and support all software and hardware components of technology systems utilized to secure the campus, associates, and guests of Wrigley Field and will perform all other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the Security Operations (SecOps) Team, specifically all full-time, part-time, and seasonal associates employed by the Cubs who collectively provide security service in conformance with Cubs policies and procedures
• Ensure policies and procedures remain consistent with Safety Act and MLB Best Stadium Operating Procedures (BSOP) and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, for the purpose of ensuring the SecOps Team consistently delivers best-in-class customer service to all Cubs associates and guests
• Responsible for Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development and accountability of SecOps Team for execution against written procedures
• Lead the coordination and collaboration efforts involving security operations at Cubs owned and affiliated spaces such as Sloan Park, South Bend, the Dominican Republic, and Chicago-area warehouses and parking structures, etc.
• Assist with development, testing, and deployment of the overall safety and security strategy in cooperation with the Vice President, Safety and Security, and work collaboratively with department managers of the Safety and Security Department, as well as, with other leaders of other Cubs entities within Ballpark Operations, Baseball Operations, Finance, HR, IT, and others engaged as partners in execution of that strategy
• Manage all software, hardware, and outside vendor support to core information and security systems, such as Axxis cameras, 24/7 (ISS), C-Cure access control, ExaqVision, and lead all future security technology improvements and enhancements
• Responsible for the selection, training, rewards and recognition, and performance management of security associates
• Lead investigative efforts and ensure thorough documentation of on-campus accidents, criminal and/or suspicious activity affecting the campus, and execute the Cubs' overall intelligence-led safety and security strategy by leveraging relevant and documented incidents, suspicious activity, hazards/safety violations, and both internal or external intelligence by strategically deploying and directing security resources in order to identify and mitigate safety or security risks at the earliest possible moment
• Oversee event command post operations, including training, staffing, communications, documentation of after-action reporting and corrective follow up designed to improve operational procedures across Ballpark Operations, including regular and ongoing analysis of operations data designed to improve security operations organization-wide
• Collaborate with other departments such as, events, partnerships, sales, and marketing to ensure partner event needs are met
• Ensure support and alignment for large-scale non-baseball events including concerts
• Accountable for budgeting, staffing levels, and labor utilization for Security Operations at Wrigley Field Events
• Support the implementation of emergency evacuation and weather-related safety training and exercises
• Collaborate with the City of Chicago on transportation surrounding Wrigley Field and the surrounding neighborhood
• Interface with external law enforcement agencies or key law enforcement agency points of contact
• Occasional travel may be required
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be available to work during 60 or more games during season as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 4-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated experience with uniformed security operations, including first-hand experience as a uniformed security officer
• Demonstrated experience with leading, directing, and managing performance of uniformed security personnel, conflict management, rewards and recognition, and safety and security related best practices
• Demonstrated leadership and personnel management experience with the ability to coach, mentor, motivate and recruit a diverse workforce
• Demonstrated ability to be creative and seek proactive solutions to problems and situations before and/or as they arise with little or no supervision
• Provide analytical insight to day-to-day operations and make measurable change and improvements
• Demonstrated experience with budget oversight and general accounting/finance knowledge
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience working in an organized labor or union environment
• Prior hands-on experience in Safety and Security operations
• Sports team/Major League baseball experience
