Full Time Job
The Chicago Bulls are seeking an individual to build the email marketing practice inside the Bulls organization. The goals of this practice are to make our marketing efforts more effective and personalized, better engage and get to know our fan base (including potential ticket buyers) and drive incremental revenue from ticket sales.
Core responsibilities
• Lead the strategy, development and execution of email marketing, inclusive of emails relating to marketing efforts, content distribution and product sales (tickets and merchandise)
• Oversee the ticket sales email strategy (nurture and conversion campaigns) and find opportunities to use email as a lead generation tool
• Collaborate with creative and content teams to grow email into a key channel for content distribution through creation of targeted newsletters
• Partner with Business Strategy & Analytics (BS&A) team to collectively run the email marketing solution (Eloqua) and ensure data integrity within the solution. Understand how Eloqua connects to other data sources (such as CRM and ticketing data.)
• Understand and implement adherence to email and opt-in rules and regulations. Ensure that the Bulls maintain email user subscription, consent, permissions, and privacy policy to the evolving regulatory standards. Keep abreast of the latest in domestic and international digital regulations.
Competencies
• Evolve the email marketing and marketing automation capability as a strategic asset for the Chicago Bulls
• Build a strategic portfolio of email content that engages the various segments of the Bulls fan base
• Educate internal teams and employees around the possibilities offered by marketing automation
• Build internal relationships with key partners (predominantly in marketing & ticketing functions) to better understand priorities, seasonality and business impact of various products and initiatives that email is being asked to support
• Establish processes to drive efficiency in email creation and distribution including training other Bulls employees in the use of Eloqua and managing their access to the platform.
• Seek opportunities to drive automation and personalization within the email strategy to reduce workload and better engage our fans
• Bring a test and learn mentality to optimizing subject lines, content, copy and landing pages throughout the process
• Partner with Digital Product team to make sure that the website offers landing pages supporting a consistent experience with email content
• Work with our analytics to establish a set of executive reports to keep Bulls leadership informed on the performance of the email campaigns
• Collaborate with BS&A to use the data captured through email to better inform the Bulls customer segmentation efforts
• Evaluate the marketing technology landscape to understand if there are additional solutions that will drive greater email or marketing automation effectiveness
Qualifications
We are looking to place a highly organized self-starter who can work well across departments to fill this role.
• 2 years of hands on experience in an email marketing role with responsibilities that include building a marketing automation strategy, creating emails based on templates and reporting back to the business on performance
• Experience acting as a project manager
• Effectively balance multiple projects while prioritizing trade-offs, risks and partner expectations
• Strong Eloqua skills including asset creation, campaign development and reporting (or an equivalent email marketing/ marketing automation platform)
• Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Highly organized and strong time management abilities
• Strong communication (both written and verbal)
• Works effectively and quickly in a dynamic environment
• Initiative and dedication to challenge self and continually strive for improvement
