Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment is looking for a college student to serve as an intern for the Communications department. The Digital Media Video intern will play a large role in assisting the department with day-to-day functions including, creating graphics and pre–production organizing and scheduling.
This is a non-paid internship, a stipend is provided for transportation, food and parking expenses. You will need to be able to work 20-40 hours per week. You are required to receive academic credit. Hours will include most arena events, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends, including Arena Events and Hornets games.
The Summer 2019 program runs from May 29, 2019 to August 9, 2019.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Execution of pre-production schedule including video & audio editing as well as graphic design
• Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Digital Media team
• Pre-production organizing and planning for off-site events and community relations based initiatives
• Execution of production orientated tasks leading up to and on game days
• Aiding in the post-production process of exporting and uploading videos to team's website, etc.
• Creating graphics, images and/or other digital assets to be used on the Hornets social media accounts
• Shooting photos using digital camera and shooting video
• Copywriting and transcription of interviews, recaps and previews
• Assist with special projects, as assigned by the Digital Media Department
Required Skills
, Experience, and Abilities
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:
• You are required to receive college credit.
• Preference for Communication, Broadcasting, Video Production, Digital Media, Graphic Design or Broadcast Journalism majors.
• You must be hardworking, dedicated, and organized
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn on the fly while utilizing prior knowledge
• Strong communications/media background is preferred
• Knowledge of video editing & graphic design on Mac OS required
• Familiarity with the following programs & equipment is required: Final Cut Suite, Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud, Prosumer and DSLR Cameras, Production equipment (Lighting, tripods, green screens, etc.), and Microsoft Office
