Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate team member to engage our fans across the region through radio, Digital Media, and other content channels. The Charlotte Hornets radio play-by-play broadcaster will serve as the ''on-air'' voice for the Hornets radio broadcasts for all preseason, regular season and playoff games. You will be responsible for promoting and distributing content tied to the radio broadcast through the team's social media platforms. In addition to play-by-play responsibilities, you will also serve as a regular content contributor for all Hornets Digital Media channels. Other responsibilities include: serving as a liaison between the team and its flagship radio station and affiliates, participating in team/sponsor events and appearances, developing a Hornets podcast and crafting production elements related to the broadcast. To be successful, you will continually develop new content opportunities for the team across various platforms. You will build professional relationships with Hornets players, coaches, front office staff and members of the media, as well as, work across departments to assist in company-wide initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• You will provide play-by-play duties for every Hornets radio broadcast (preseason, regular season and postseason games) and contribute to content
• You will develop content plan and format for radio broadcasts (features, guests, interviews, etc.)
• Utilize social media platforms to promote, distribute and provide content for Hornets radio broadcast
• Serve as contributor/interviewer/host/reporter for various Hornets content across Hornets digital and social media platforms
• Develop Hornets podcast for distribution on team's mobile app and website
• Serve as team and community ambassador: emcee events, attend speaking and personal appearances, participate in team promotional activities and events, sponsor-related events, presentations, and entertainment, etc. as reasonably requested
• Collaborate with Hornets television broadcasts and radio affiliates as well as local and national television and radio stations promoting the franchise
• Provide voice-overs and narration services in connection with the production of the highlight programs on all forms of media, and for commercials and promotional spots about Hornets broadcasts
• Handle department budget responsibilities (billing, invoices, etc.)
• Cooperate with and serve as primary contact for the Hornets radio flagship station and radio network to provide on-air interviews, guest appearances and assist in the making of openings, closings, lead-ins, lead-outs, and trailers
• Other duties as assigned by manager, including other hosting, reporting, interviewing and play-by-play announcing duties
Required Skills
, Experience, and Abilities
You should have the necessary qualifications and demonstrate the following competencies to perform the job successfully:
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in related field
• Have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a play-by-play announcer
• Be able to develop various forms of content across different platforms
• Be capable of working with a wide variety of people and developing strong relationships
• Present self in a professional manner and can interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
• Have strong interpersonal skills – ability to maintain confidentiality, listens to others, and willing to try new things
• Able to collaborate across a full spectrum of internal and external contacts
• Strong communication - ability to write and speak in a clear and concise manner
• Adaptability and flexibility - adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and can handle frequent changes
• Dependable - consistently be at work on time, complete tasks in a timely manner
• Organized, can prioritize work activities, uses time expertly
• Able work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; and can travel with team year-round to all games and events
