Role:
The Senior Director of Communications, CBS Sports will direct strategy and development for communications supporting CBS Sports growing portfolio of properties and platforms. This includes leading publicity efforts for college football, CBS Sports Network programming, and serving as the department's copy editor. The role will collaborate with our business leaders across CBS Sports. This includes Production, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Digital and Social Media. You'll also work broadly to elevate cross-company relationships. This role will report directly to CBS Sports' EVP of Communications.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Communications leads to develop and implement the division's overall Communications strategy
• Develop Public Relations plans to promote CBS Sports' offerings, focusing on college football, programming and events
• Serve as the lead copy editor for the department
• Handle relationships with CBS Sports announcers, reporters and production personnel
• Be responsible for the development of material, including press releases, messaging, talking points, social content and presentations as necessary
• Cultivate close working relationships with sports and consumer media
• Partner with our ViacomCBS brands to elevate CBS Sports' cross-company relationships
• Identify and develop communications tactics and strategy
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years hands-on communications experience in the Sports or Media industry, with experience handling people
• Shown ability to build communications campaigns that align with business objectives
• Proficiency with all forms of media – traditional, digital and social media
• Must be team-oriented, collaborative and flexible to work across various business groups across the company
• Ability to foster positive relationships
• Strong writing and editorial skills, and social-media savvy required
• Strong media relations experience with an ability to think creatively and develop new ways to reach media and consumers
• Must be willing to work outside standard business hours
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle a range of projects
• Passion and strong knowledge of sports and the media business
• Bachelor's degree required
