CBS Television Stations consists of 28 CBS-owned stations in 17 major U.S. markets, as well as the stations' digital properties. The portfolio of stations includes 15 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates.
The station group's properties also include CBSN Local, a joint initiative with CBS Interactive that features direct-to-consumer streaming news services in the markets where the Company has local news organizations. CBS Television Stations' premium local content is also distributed to consumers by the group's websites and mobile applications.
Summary: WWJ-TV CBS 62 / WKBD-TV CW50 Detroit, the ViacomCBS Owned & Operated Duopoly in the Detroit Market, is seeking a VP Director of Sales to drive our total station sales effort. In this position, the VP/DOS will work directly with the station's Vice President/General Manager and the Division Sales Team to establish and implement strategies to meet Multi-Media (Linear and Non-Linear) sales objective goals.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to the following:
• Responsible for day-to-day sales operations and achieving revenue goals of both broadcast and digital assets, including home and out-of-market sales.
• Provide accurate forecasting and develop fiscal year revenue budgets reflective of overall station goals.
• Price, manage and control broadcast commercial and digital inventory to ensure revenue budgets are achieved.
• Maintain constant awareness of market conditions, competitive changes, emerging categories, and revenue opportunities and adjust operational plans as needed.
• Prepare and present weekly and quarterly department summaries delivering insightful analytics and directional guidance.
• Educate sales department in local and national trends and provide them with new selling ideas and techniques.
• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate sales managers and account executives to achieve positive, inclusive culture delivering on maximum results and job satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with key decision makers with both advertising agencies and direct clients.
• Oversee stations compliance to FCC requirements regarding political advertising and political file uploading.
• Conduct regular sales meetings and travel as needed.
• Maintain highest-level business integrity and leadership representative of station and company outlined goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years prior broadcast television sales management experience at a major market television station.
• Position requires excellent organizational/time management skills and leadership ability.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Knowledge of Nielsen, ComScore, Wide Orbit, Strata and Salesforce preferred.
• Must be self-motivated, self-disciplined, have a positive attitude and be an effective communicator.
