CBS Newspath is seeking a hardworking multi-faceted news producer to balance priorities, generate top stories and contribute sound editorial judgment to our dedicated growing fast paced news team.
Responsibilities:
• Respond to breaking news, closely coordinate with senior producer and other producing staff on news stories.
• Quickly edit live, planned and taped events.
• Research, develop stories, build, and nurture relationships with CBS affiliates and clients.
• Communicate accurately and collaboratively with staff at CBS Television Network shows, CBSN, CBSNews.com and CBS News Radio.
• Take initiative, making calls, partner with team and coordinate with CBS newsgathering operations.
• Candidates must be flexible with changing schedules for breaking news and some travel.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred
• Must have proven news judgment and experience researching breaking news
• 5 years of editorial experience
• 2 years of experience producing local TV news preferred
• Strong editing skills necessary (Experience with Avid Media Central preferred)
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of TV newsgathering and transmission technology a plus
• Must be able to prioritize and multi-task working on stories simultaneously
• Must be a team leader with a positive outlook
• Thrives in fast paced and time sensitive environment
• Must be willing to work holidays and some weekends
