CBS Mornings is looking for a Producer based in Los Angeles with excellent writing, production and editorial skills. Responsibilities will include the ability to cover a variety of stories including breaking and daily news, investigations, consumer reporting, politics, entertainment, arts and culture features. Strong feature writing experience is a necessity.
Candidates must have strong editorial skills as well as highly developed communication and relationship-building skills. This position requires high energy and persistence, as well as a thorough understanding of TV newsgathering and transmission technology. Candidates should have producing experience with a live network news program or cable news network. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours and travel. Other requirements include working knowledge and experience with cameras, editing software and a strong knowledge of current events.
Candidates will need to share examples of pieces that show both writing and shooting experience.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• 5 years producing experience in a professional newsroom preferred.
• Original scripting experience a must. Must be an excellent writer with good oral communication skills.
• Experience operating cameras and shooting pieces required.
• Non-linear editing experience preferred.
• Must have solid news judgment and experience with breaking news and live shots.
• Experience with high-profile, multi-camera interviews and live remotes preferred.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Open to mentoring less experienced producers.
• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule when needed to cover other shifts and breaking news.
• Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations. Ability to multi-task is essential.
• Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
