The CBS News Special Events Unit is looking for an associate producer that will work with the team on breaking news and large planned productions for the network. The candidate will be required to assist with editorial planning of major events for CBS News. This person will also work with an editor selecting video and soundbites, and in the control room with producers building graphic elements to improve our live coverage. This person must be a decisive multi-tasker who possesses strong journalistic judgment and the ability to remain calm in a high-pressure setting. They also must be willing to deal with an adaptable schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Executive Producer and producers on special events coverage
• Responsible for editorial and creative content for breaking news and special reports
• Knowledge of working in an edit room to find specific video and soundbites
• Coordinate graphics and production elements for special reports
• Assist with planning for large productions for CBS News
Qualifications:
• 3 years producing experience in a professional newsroom.
• Control room experience for a network, streaming or cable news program is a plus.
• Must have strong news judgment and experience with breaking news.
• Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations.
• A self-starter that is also able to take direction from producers and senior producers
