Late Night Cartoons, Inc. is looking to fill Full Time on-site positions for STORYBOARD ARTISTS as well as FREELANCE THUMBNAIL ARTISTS for an adult half-hour comedy series with an emphasis on political satire. The production is fast paced with quick turnarounds. The position starts in late September and will last approximately 3 to 4 months with strong likelihood to extend through the year.
Storyboard Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret script pages and sequences into visual presentations that demonstrate clear, efficient staging and storytelling choices.
Judiciously use assets from an Adobe Animate Library in order to keep artwork on model and consistent across scenes and episodes.
Setup and stage shots for dialogue heavy show with occasional supplemental action.
Communicate any questions or concerns about shot load, episodic responsibilities, and deadlines in a tactful manner.
Incorporate Director's notes promptly as necessary.
Thumbnail Responsibilities:
Analyze, interpret, and visually problem-solve specific script segments that demonstrate crucial actions or characters interactions.
Execute variations on sequences with strong acting and staging choices and efficient composition .
Incorporate Director's notes promptly as necessary.
Qualifications:
Strong drawing skills that suggest character and action
Familiarity with Adobe Animate is a huge plus
Understanding of cinematic scene and dramatic structure
Understanding of library based animation pipeline
Ability to work collaboratively
Ability to analyze scenes in written form and translate into visual product
Ability to express story and character through drawings and composition choices
Ability to invent action and express it through drawing
Portfolio/Reel Requirements:
Reel or Portfolio that demonstrates ability to execute staging cleanly and on model
The Storyboarding position is Full-time In New York City, though we may consider offsite remote artists in very special circumstances.
The Thumbnail position is freelance and usually a few half-days per week for 10 weeks.
