Full Time Paid Internship
Division Overview:

Role Details:
Candidate is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining production front-end code for a high-volume, high-traffic end-user facing website. Collaborating with Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, QA, Operations and Editorial teams. Working from design deliverables and/or written specifications, the web intern is responsible for the development of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. This position requires communication skills along with good organization and collaboration abilities.
Your Day-to-Day:
• Backend: PHP, Node.js, AWS services
• Frontend:
• Cutting edge Web APIs (such as Service Workers with push notifications),JS (Vue, riot.js, mostly vanilla JS with a little jQuery mixed in), CSS (we use SCSS for structure, and Flex Grid for positions), SVG sprites
• Support for third party services (like AMP, Apple News)
• Javascript powered apps for devices (OTT, legacy Apple TV, Samsung, Vizio)
• Performance:
• Navigation Timing API, etc
• Source Control:
• git
• Docker based local environment
Logistics:
• Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
• This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Qualifications:
What you bring to the team:
You have –
• Web Standards, the DOM, cross-browser & cross-platform HTML
• CSS positioning, HTML/CSS architecture
• JavaScript (vanilla and Frameworks) and AJAX (w/ Restful API access)
• PHP or equivalent server-side web development language (JSP, ASP.net, etc.)
• JSON fetching and parsing
You might also have –
• Familiarity with BEM naming conventions for CSS
• SASS or LESS
• Familiarity with optimization for web. For example, using sprites, minimizing the number of requests made to the server, etc.
• Sketch for design deliverables
Additional requirements:
• Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Must be at least 18 years old
