Full Time Paid Internship
The CNET digital editorial intern will report to the engagement editor in San Francisco and assist with promotion and distribution of news coverage and product reviews across CNET's homepage and mobile apps. The editorial intern will also help by monitoring competitors' sites and social media to identify trends and suggest emerging news stories. The goal will be to have our intern get a sense of what it's like to be a digital media editor in the fast-paced world of online news.
Your Day-to-Day:
• Use good news judgement to promote stories important to CNET's readers, and know how to package those stories so that said stories reach a large audience.
• Identify breaking, trending and unique stories which help to expand CNET's coverage while working with other CBSi brands to coordinate coverage
• Learn to write SEO-optimized and social-friendly headlines
• Send daily CNET mobile app and web notifications
• Write fast turnaround news stories on any topic
• Pitch and write content for various sections of CNET, including reviews, how-tos and video content and features
• Feature content includes commentary, comparison, analysis and explainers
Logistics:
• Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
• This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Qualifications:
• Strong writing and copy editing skills
• Demonstrated interest in consumer technology
• Ability to deal well with ambiguity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Skilled in building successful relationships internally and externally
• Flexible, open-minded and forward-thinking
• Ability to work independently and take initiative but also work well with coworkers in a team environment
Additional Requirements:
• Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Must be at least 18 years old
