Role Details:
As a Data Scientist Intern, you will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality analytical and prediction systems. Example projects include using machine learning to develop insights to audience viewing patterns, and/or the impact of on-platform advertising to customer lifetime value.
Your Day-to-Day:
• Perform feature selection, build and optimize classifiers using Machine Learning (ML) techniques
• Conduct data mining using state-of-the-art methods
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Building data visualizations to present data insights to the Business Intelligence team
• Create automated machine learning-based systems to support constant measurement
Logistics
• This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
Qualifications:
What you bring to the team:
You have –
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
• Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, Aleryx.
• Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Good scripting and programming skills in Python or Java
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, D3.js, GGplot, etc.
• Proficiency using SQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus
• Great communication skills
You might also have –
• Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related fields.
Additional Requirements:
• Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or bootcamp
• Must be at least 18 years old
